Asheville faces a major water crisis due to Helen. The massive storm severely damaged the city's water supply infrastructure, leaving millions without drinking water for weeks. Local authorities are trying to restore the main water supply line and treatment plant, but full reconstruction is expected to take more time. Clean water could take weeks or even months, said Asheville Water Resources Director David Melton.
Bottled water and tanker trucks are being provided temporarily, but these measures are not a permanent solution. Many People are forced to collect rainwater and use water from nearby rivers or springs. Also, some schools have started digging their own wells to ensure uninterrupted water supply.
